We came to Osteria da Fortunata – Cancellaria for a Roman meal and it didn’t disappoint. The place is super busy and tightly packed, definitely more of a come-for-the-food spot than a slow, relaxed lunch — but the energy feels authentic. We ordered the veal and oxtail in tomato sauce. Both were excellent: The veal was unbelievably tender — melt-in-your-mouth soft — rich with olive oil and perfectly paired with roasted potatoes. The oxtail came in a deep, hearty tomato sauce that was perfect for dipping bread. The meat was fall-apart tender and flavorful. Food came out very fast — even quicker than the wine — and the portions were huge. We noticed their pasta plates going to other tables and they’re massive, so the price makes sense for the size. If you’re after Roman cooking done right, this is a must-visit. Just don’t expect a quiet, spacious setting — it’s all about the food and the lively vibe.

I got the veal with potatoes and my acquaintance got the mixed fried. It was super good! We had an early dinner(6ish) and were able to get a table immediately. When we left there was a long line along the wall.

Great restaurant to eat some great local food. The carbonara is made to perfection. The Sciavatelli Amatriciana is beyond delicious! They make their pasta handmade every day. The staff is friendly, always up for a good joke, and they're very attentive. The food always tastes fresh, and nostalgia importantly, the flavors are super rich.

The best pasta we had in Rome by far. They literally make the pasta in front of you and it was delicious. The service was great, attentive, and fast. Our waiter even recommended not to get a certain plate and what he recommended us to try for our first time in Italy. Definitely recommend this place. #10DA25

Their Amatriciana was extremely tangy. I guess the tomatoes they used were on the sour side. The flavor wasn’t bad, and the pasta was perfectly cooked, but it wasn’t for me. The Arancini was very good. The low point was the service. While the staff was very friendly it was impossible to get a hold of them and they never came to see how things are going, I always had to chase them. I ordered water which never came but they still tried to bill me for it. Not the worst, not the best

Our driver knew the owner and we got there early enough to get a great seat.(By the time we left it was packed with a line waiting) Service was great, we sat outside and it was also a lovely day. Food was good and...the best part of all was the dessert..lapa??? I can't remember how to say it ..see the picture... it was AMAZING and I would eat it every day. This was the only place the entire time we were in Italy that we saw it on a menu.(Or did our waiter tell us and it wasn't even on the menu?) Get it...you will thank me forever!

The pasta and the tiramisu are amazing as expected (as a lot of reviewers already mentioned). The decoration is really cute and cozy. But if I can give 6 stars for the service I would have done so! Our waiter- Alexandro is so nice to us, which made our experience was so pleasant. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who visits Roma!

This is a necessary stop for any trip to Rome! It’s busy and full of tourists but the food is amazing and it’s a great experience! The service was amazing, the food was delicious and the outdoor seating was comfortable and lively. There are many great options and we ended up splitting a few dishes. I would love to go again and try others as there were so many good options! There are a few locations around the city, book a reservation for whatever is closest to you!

The energy inside is palpable — busy, bustling, and focused squarely on the food. It's not your place for a quiet meal but a culinary experience that celebrates the vibrancy of Roman dining culture.

The hallmark here is their handcrafted pasta, made fresh daily. Dishes like Tagliolini all'uovo Cacio E Pepe stand out with their rich, creamy sauce and perfectly al dente pasta. This is Roman cooking in its purest form—simple ingredients elevated by skill and patience. The Carbonara, praised for its perfection, and the Sciavatelli Amatriciana, bursting with deep, tomato-laden flavor, further showcase their mastery of local classics.

Beyond pasta, the menu offers delights like Coniglio Alla Cacciatora and Abbacchio Al Forno Con Patate Stagionale, delivering tender meats rich with olive oil and robust seasoning. The Fritto Misto and Olive Ascolane provide crispy, savory starters that awaken the palate, while Burrata Con Bruschette highlights fresh, creamy textures paired with crunchy bread.
